recursive error VM code must invoke a version check

I am faced with this error when connecting to servers, in this case, AussieAssault.
The game begins to download /main/vms-0.9.0.pk3 and when it finishes, the game closes and an error message appears saying: "recursive error 'VM code must invoke a version check' after: VM code must invoke a version check".

Aussie Assault is running Alpha 9 and we're currently at Alpha 12. You'll have to play on another server until AA gets updated :(
