Development Game [ 2014-04-13 ]

Post by Viech »

The first dev game being played on a NaCl server – with no crashes! (Ok, there was this slight glitch in window room, but still a huge success!)

Another noteworthy fact is that ⅞ of the maps that were played were maps developed for Unvanquished, as opposed to the Tremulous maps we keep around while our own pool is small.

The match on chasm was especially interesting as it was executed like a scrim by both teams. Humans managed to build an aggressive forward in the outside area just in front of the alien base. The aliens reacted quickly and an army of grangers moved their base to the computer room before any structure was lost. This enabled the alien team to raid the remains of the old human base and backstab their forward which was designed with a frontal attack in mind, leading to the humans being defeated after less than nine minutes of an intense game.

Analysis

Running the server side gamelogic on NaCl was a huge success. Forlorn's layout appears to have stabilized in a balanced and fun state. The gameplay changes were too subtle to analyze their results just yet.
